Around Town

Kaito took a trip around town yesterday.  He saw some of the landmarks in the area including the Zojo-ji Temple and Tokyo Tower.  (That's him in the Baby Bjorn.  I'm just the transportation.)  They are gearing up for the New Year's celebration, a major holiday in Japan.

Cheryl is always behind the camera taking these great photos.  I will try to take over at some point and get a shot or two of her up here as well!

Here is another shot from the window of our hotel room.

You can see the dark roof of the Zojo-ji shrine in the center of the photo in front of the skyscrapers. Having been up at various hours of the night, I can tell you that Tokyo never sleeps!

An Update from Tokyo!

So, we've been a little busy!  Apologize for not getting these photos up earlier.  Kaito is doing great.

This is the three of us on Christmas Day!

Here is Kaito hanging out in his crib.

Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas! We will update again in the near future.

The Season for Good Tidings and Great News! 海人!

The phone call that we have been waiting for finally came unexpectedly on a Sunday night as we sat down to eat a dinner.

The good news has come in the form of a son, Kaito (pronounced Kite-O) who was born on November 21, 2011 in Hokkaido, Japan. His name, 海人, means Ocean Person. He is healthy and doing great.

We are now finalizing plans for when we will meet him. We will let you know when that happens.

Please contact us through the blog for future updates!

With much love, Andy & Cheryl

Praying for Japan

Since the devastating events that began on March 11, we have been praying for Japan and the people there. We have been in touch with our friends and Japanese “family” and thankfully all are safe. We have been praying for miracles, hope for the people and restoration for the country. Please keep them in your prayers.

For those interested in supporting relief efforts in Japan, here are some reputable organizations: CRASH Japan, Samaritan's Purse and The Red Cross. They are all working to bring support and supplies to areas in northeast Japan hit hardest by the earthquake and tsunami. Some of our friends are there now, doing just that. Please drop us a line if you would like more information.

Happy Year of the Rabbit!

We have not updated the blog in a while but wanted to let you know that we continue to wait for the call letting us know our baby has been born. We’ve been in contact with our agency and our status remains the same but timing is still unknown.

Thank you for all the encouraging words while we wait. We will be sure to let you know once we hear the good news!

We hope 2010 was a great year for you and we wish you many blessings in 2011!
